MEET FN-2199, A.K.A. TR-8R: THE STORMTROOPER BEHIND THE MEME

GET TO KNOW THE INTERNET'S FAVORITE NEW FIRST ORDER SOLDIER.

“Traitor!” So bellowed a baton-wielding First Order stormtrooper, and the rest is Internet meme history.

First glimpsed in a teaser for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, this mystery trooper — who confronts a lightsaber-brandishing Finn — has inspired countless memes, fan art, and Twitter jokes. (The above GIF, by the way, is available inthe Star Wars app, should you need to send to a traitorous friend.) He’s been lovingly dubbed TR-8R (because, well, why not?), but there’s more to this bucket head than fleeting viral popularity. So unlearn what you have learned about TR-8R, because StarWars.com has exclusive intel onStar Wars‘ biggest Web star since Darth Jar Jar.

His name is FN-2199. But his friends call him “Nines.” As detailed in Greg Rucka’s excellent book Before the Awakening, Nines trained and served on a squad with Finn (then FN-2187) in the First Order. That explains why he seems just a little extra angry upon seeing Finn during the attack on Maz’s Castle. You can see FN-2199 in the image below by Phil Noto from Before the Awakening — he’s the trooper seated in the background with red hair. Who’d have thought?

There’s a reason that Nines gets to use an awesome weapon (which is called a Z6 baton). He’s riot control, and part of an elite squad that enforces order or squashes uprisings. While their weapons are non-lethal in theory, the Z6 can definitely cause harm or kill an opponent when used with brute force. Look, if a lightsaber can’t cut it, you know it ain’t good news.

You’ve heard his work before. Kind of! FN-2199’s voice (including, of course, “Traitor!”) was provided by David Acord, a Skywalker Sound sound editor. Acord’s production credits includeAttack of the Clones, Revenge of the Sith, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, andStar Wars: The Force Awakens. Pretty good training for a stormtrooper. (Inside the armor is Liang Yang, a veteran stunt performer. Without his baton spinning, you wouldn’t be reading this.)

So there you have it — the stormtrooper behind the meme. Let’s hope we haven’t seen the last of Nines. Or TR-8R. Who wouldn’t want to see round two…and all the memes it could inspire?

Cheat Mode

Enter one of the following codes while playing the game or at the pause screen to activate the corresponding cheat function. If you entered a code correctly, a small confirmation will appear above the map. Note: GTA 5 cheats for PS4 cannot be saved, and must be entered manually each time. They also cannot be used during missions. If you enable cheats and start a mission, the cheats will automatically be disabled. All direction commands must be entered using the digital pad. Cheats also disable PS4 trophies from being earned for the current game save. Thus, quick save your game before using cheat codes. Additionally, there may be other cheat codes for GTA V still yet unknown that will eventually be revealed. So keep checking back, as they could be revealed at anytime.

Invincibility

While playing the game, quickly press Right, X, Right, Left, Right, R1, Right, Left, X, Triangle to be invincible for five minutes. You must enter the code again after five minutes to reactive invincibility. Note: This code does not make vehicles invincible.
Full health and armor

While playing the game, quickly press Circle, L1, Triangle, R2, X, Square, Circle, Right, Square, L1(3).
Give weapons and extra ammo

While playing the game, quickly press Triangle, R2, Left, L1, X, Right, Triangle, Down, Square, L1(3) to get extra ammunition and the assault rifle, grenade, knife, pistol, RPG, sawed off shotgun, SMG, and sniper rifle.
Lower wanted level

While playing the game, quickly press R1(2), Circle, R2, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left.
Raise wanted level

While playing the game, quickly press R1(2), Circle, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right.
Recharge special ability

While playing the game, quickly press X(2), Square, R1, L1, X, Right, Left, X.
Super jump

While playing the game, quickly press Left(2), Triangle(2), Right(2), Left, Right, Square, R1, R2. Hold Square to jump very high.
Faster run

While playing the game, quickly press Triangle, Left, Right(2), L2, L1, Square.
Faster swim

While playing the game, quickly press Left(2), L1, Right(2), R2, Left, L2, Right.
Flaming bullets

While playing the game, quickly press L1, R1, Square, R1, Left, R2, R1, Left, Square, Right, L1(2).
Explosive bullets

While playing the game, quickly press Right, Square, X, Left, R1, R2, Left, Right(2), L1(3).
Explosive melee attacks

Slow-motion aim

While playing the game, quickly press Square, L2, R1, Triangle, Left, Square, L2, Right, X. The code can be entered up to three times to increase its effect. Enter it a fourth time to disable the code.
Moon gravity

While playing the game, quickly press Left(2), L1, R1, L1, Right, Left, L1, Left. Enter a vehicle after enabling this code to experience less gravity. Press Circle after jumping to float.
Slidey cars

While playing the game, quickly press Triangle, R1(2), Left, R1, L1, R2, L1.
Spawn BMX bike

While playing the game, quickly press Left(2), Right(2), Left, Right, Square, Circle, Triangle, R1, R2.
Spawn Buzzard (small attack helicopter)

While playing the game, quickly press Circle(2), L1, Circle(3), L1, L2, R1, Triangle, Circle, Triangle. The Buzzard is a helicopter with missiles and guns. It must be spawned in a large enough area for it to appear, or it will not spawn.
Spawn Caddy (golf cart)

While playing the game, quickly press Circle, L1, Left, R1, L2, X, R1, L1, Circle, X.
Spawn Comet (two door sports car)

While playing the game, quickly press R1, Circle, R2, Right, L1, L2, X(2), Square, R1.
Spawn Duster (crop duster plane)

While playing the game, quickly press Right, Left, R1(3), Left, Triangle(2), X, Circle, L1(2).
Spawn Limo (limousine)

While playing the game, quickly press R2, Right, L2, Left(2), R1, L1, Circle, Right.
Spawn parachute

Skyfall

While playing the game, quickly press L1, L2, R1, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right, L1, L2, R1, R2, Left, Right, Left, Right. This cheat code spawns you in the air for a skydive free fall. If you hold the Analog-stick, you can glide for a long time. However, it does not allow you to use the parachute. Thus, you will usually die at the end of the free fall. It is possible to survive, but you will have very little health remaining. The best way to survive is to do a direct vertical faceplant. If you can survive the fall, this cheat is very useful for fast traveling around the map.
Drunk mode

While playing the game, quickly press Triangle, Right(2), Left, Right, Square, Circle, Left.
Slow-motion mode

While playing the game, quickly press Triangle, Left, Right(2), Square, R2, R1. The code can be entered up to four times to increase its effect. Enter it a fifth time to disable the code.
Change weather

While playing the game, quickly press R2, X, L1(2), L2(3), Square. Each time the code is entered, it rotates through sunny, clear, cloudy, smoggy, overcast, rainy, thundering, clearing, and snowing weather.

Secret Bigfoot hunting mission

Get a 100% completion in GTA 5 to unlock "The Last One" secret Strangers and Freaks mission for Franklin at the following location at Mount Chiliad. The special mission requires you to catch a Sasquatch by chasing him through the forest. This mission has some similarities to the "Birth Of The Conservation Movement" mission in Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare.
Epsilon Tractor

Successfully complete the "Epsilon Tract" mission to unlock the Epsilon Tractor for Michael.
Hot Rod ATV

Successfully complete all main storyline missions to unlock the Hot Rod ATV for Trevor.
Space Docker car

Successfully complete the "Far Out" mission for the Omega stranger (he becomes available after completing the "Fame Or Shame" main mission) in east Sandy Shores by collecting all 50 spaceship parts in Grand Theft Auto 5 to unlock the Space Docker (alien) car. This car is loaded with alien technology, including two large booster jets.
Alternate costumes

Successfully complete the final mission in the main storyline to unlock mission-specific costumes for all three characters, including the black outfits from stealth missions, guard uniforms from the final mission, and police uniforms. To unlock all shirts, get a 100% game completion.
Ammu-Nation discounts

Successfully complete all Gun Range challenges with Bronze medals to get a 10 percent discount at Ammu-Nation stores. Successfully complete all Gun Range challenges with Silver medals to get a 15 percent discount at Ammu-Nation stores. Successfully complete all Gun Range challenges with Gold medals to get a 25 percent discount at Ammu-Nation stores. Note: Discounts are attached to each character. Thus, getting all Gold medals with Michael will only allow him to get the 25 percent discount.
LifeInvader unlockables

To get bonus customizations, discounts, and free items for Michael, Franklin, and Trevor, go to Rockstar's LifeInvader social network, and click the "Stalk" button on the page. Sign into LifeInvader with your Social Club name and password. Then, different pages will appear randomly after refreshing. Click the "Stalk" button on each one to unlock something new for use in GTA 5. For example, to get a free haircut and unlock additional hairstyles, go to Herr Kutz Barber, and click the "Stalk" button.
